Spring 2001
Lara Lavi just returned from Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she addressed hundreds of Harvard law and business faculty and students, musicians, and fans at the Harvard Journal of Law and Technology Symposium. Lara spoke about the future of music, the new Very Juicy business model and Very Juicy’s pro-artist activism. Lara and colleague Jenny Toomey, Executive Director of the Future of Music Coalition, were the only presenters (out of 25) to receive a standing ovation!

Spring 2001
Very Juicy Records announces a strategic alliance with Chuck D (of Public Enemy) and his label SlamJamz. The two companies will cross-promote each other’s artists. Very Juicy will handle all the off-line retail distribution for SlamJamz. The two companies will align to develop new cutting-edge interactive technologies and build an independent fan and artist music community. The community will include new peer-to-peer technologies for music, photos and videos, live streaming videos of concerts and recording sessions, and interactive talent searches. Major label music need not apply.

Spring 2001
Very Juicy Records signs emerging L.A.-based pop/rock talent Maybe4Less. Producer Maurice Jones spends a week in L.A. working on pre-production with the group. The band members will come to Seattle this summer to record their upcoming album in the Red Room Studio.

Watch for Amp Fire’s new hip-hop release Icy Heat and Damnaged’s new release Aggression Therapy, both arriving in record stores in late spring.

Very Juicy and SlamJamz announce their fall 2001 14-city tour. The tour will hit all of the U.S. House of Blues venues. The theme of the tour is new media, electronic music toys, and emerging independent music.

Very Juicy Records announces its strategic alliance with New York City-based All Indie (allindie.com) for retail music distribution and promotions. All parties are excited to share their common philosophy of promoting artists regionally, then nationally.
